Exclamation Mail Machine v3.991 Problems I Found...

Hi

As I've stated I absolutely love this program. Thanks for the e-mails you've sent to me to try and fix the bugs. I installed this new version. It does work, I'm not getting errors. But I have found that it won't load any archives, just shows it blank and when you get notification of someone subscribing it doesn't list their e-mail address but if they unsubscribe it lists it! I tried it out with one of my other e-mail addresses. I looked at the cgi for both fields and can't figure out why it's doing this??? As for the archives, I have no idea why it's showing nothing there. Yes, that folder is set at 711.

Can you help me with this???? Thank you so much for your prompt attention to the posts!

Hi Jackie,

When you say you are having problems with email addresses missing do you mean not listing the email address in the subscription notification email? From what I recall the problems the original poster encountered occurred because she made changes to the program. Does this occur on a brand new installation? Let me know.

Best Regards,
Mike

Hi Mike

I've used MailMachine for many years, and recently updated to 3.991.

I didn't make any changes to the script, apart from the relevant parts above 'End of config', as follows

$mailprog = '/usr/sbin/sendmail';
$admin_email="email\@address.com";
$list_name="Sales List";
$adminpass="xxxxxx";
$sendto="1";
$temp="1";
$remove_notice="1";
$html = "0";
$file = "sales.txt";
$temp_file = "temp.txt";
@bannedaddresses = ('john@johndoe.com','joe@joedoe.com');
$lock = "2";

Emails arriving following a subscription say:

' has been added to the Sales List.'

The only thing I'm doing differently to the previous version I used is to have MailMachine send an email asking for confirmation of the subscription.

Regards

Jackie

Lightbulb Fix to problem...

Hi Mike...

Think I've found it...

Line 497: $member_address_in = shift || $in{'address'};
Line 525: $in{'address'} has been added to the $list_name.
Line 564: $member_address_in = shift || $in{'address'};
Line 595: $in{'address'} has been unsubscribed from the $list_name.

$in{'address'} should be $member_address_in

I just fixed my online copy, and the test shows it works better that way.

Hope this helps...

Best Regards,

Derek
